How do I care for my appliances?

You want to get the most from your expensive piece of hardware and to ensure you get the best possible operation from the unit. Take the time to look after it.

Some of your hardware appliances will have technology needs that they get via software updates.  If you haven’t used your technology in over a month, you most likely have apps that are pending updates. You need to be connected to the internet and then try to check for updates.  Short and regular updates will give your hardware the opportunity to perform as expected and potentially improve its lifespan.  Do not expect your TV or controller to be happy taking a big amount of information in one lump.

After a month of inaction you may notice issues like the parts and gears becoming stiff or beginning to seize. Think of your appliance like your car – you need to run your car every now and again, get serviced to get optimum use out of it so to prevent parts from seizing and the battery dying.

Think about what is outside your vehicle and exposed to all of the elements like your cameras, your satellite dishes and stepper.  They have a hard life and they are often forgotten about as they are ‘out of sight, out of mind’. Clean them, use them, open them, and lubricate them.  Be kind to them.

You will find that most RV appliances are made for recreational use – this means semi regular operation.  Using them too much and conversely, only using once or twice a year, will have a detrimental effect on their performance and lifespan.  Look after them by using them appropriately and servicing them.
